Awesome Universal Remote,
I honestly don’t know why people are giving this remote such bad reviews, because I’m a “tech junkie” and think it’s completely awesome!
Pros:
- Looks good and it can stand up on it’s end.
- Easy to program, easy to use the controls.
- All of the codes worked perfectly.
- Cheap for a good remote.
Cons:
- There really are none.
I have an 32″ Emerson LCD TV, which the DirecTV (I have a DirecTV DVR Receiver) Universal Remote doesn’t work with, but this remote did! The first code I punched in and it worked! Second, it works great with the DirecTV receiver. I had a Phillips Upconverting DVD Player that it worked with, but I got rid of it because I got an XBox 360. Well, to my astonishment, this remote works with the XBox 360 too! The code for it is under “DVD Players” and then under “Microsoft”. I can turn on and off my XBox, navigate the menu, watch Netflix and DVDs, it’s just awesome!
I don’t know why other reviewers didn’t have it work for them? Maybe they were putting in the codes incorrectly. It has a code for every brand I know of, and some I don’t know of. Also, one reviewer noted that you can’t program codes to other buttons? Well, you actually can. I haven’t done it yet, but it tells you how in the manual.
All in all, it’s a great remote and it’s awesome that it can be programmed for the XBox 360! Forget the Logitech Harmony and get this remote!

|Works with all of my devices,
This remote was purchased to replace (or at least substitute for) four others. I have a Vizio 32″ TV (VL320M), a Vizio Sound Bar (VSB200), a Motorola cable box (DCH3416) and an ancient Panasonic DVD player (DVD-S27). The Vizio universal remote supports all of these. I don’t know if I was just lucky, but they all functioned on the first code I punched in. It works well, and greatly improved on the performance of my Sound Bar remote (yes, I get more than 4 feet now), and the DVD player’s. Nitpicking: (1) It’s thin and feels kind of cheaply made, (2) The top buttons are too close together, and (3) It has a glossy black finish that nicely shows fingerprints and smudges. Also, the backlighting is a joke. It’s on two of the most easily recognizable keys — Volume and channel. But it functions, which was most important to me.

|Pure Disappointment,
I ordered this with great anticipation. We have a:
- Vizio 37 LCD that has been great from Day 1
- Harmon Kardon AVR 435 AV processor
- Sony BlueRay DVD
- Go Video VCR
Vizio claimed that this would drive them all. It didn’t and never will.
First, it doesn’t even have complete drivers for the Vizio TV. After 30 minutes of entering codes, talking with the (laughable) support staff, it was clear that this BRAND NEW Model remote would not drive any of their TVs more than 3 years old — which, golly, is just about when you need to replace the remote…..
Second, it had incomplete drivers for the HK AVR — it would turn it on fine, but it wouldn’t turn it off. Same sorry story from Vizio — your equipment is too old.
So back in the box it went and my money comes back.
What a waste of my time and effort.
What a piece of junk
What a LAME corporate strategy that their products are considered obselete after just four years…..
