Already Broken After 40 Rounds,
Customer Video Review Length:: 0:33 Mins
Went to zero the scope today and shot only 40 rounds to confirm zero at different distances. Holds zero just fine at all magnification levels. Went to pack the gun up and heard a little bit of rattling coming from the scope. The windage turrent was loose and spinning freely. It won’t lock into place anymore but is still able to adjust windage if I hold it down. Seems like the locking mechanism is faulty. I only chose this brand and scope for the Rapid Action Turrents and now they are the reason I regret buying this scope from Nikon. I hope their customer service is top notch because the info for service/repair on their website doesn’t make me feel to comfortable with my purchase. I will update when all is said and done.
**UPDATE**
2/16/12 Sent the scope in on 1/27/12 and just received it back today. Except they sent me a spotting scope instead of the rifle scope I sent to them. I called customer service and after the guy apologized numerous times, finally told me that my M-223 has to be replaced with a new one and is covered by the warranty. Now I have to wait for them to send me shipping labels so I can send this spotting scope back to them and they can send me a new scope. I have a feeling they will probably send me a M-223 with a BDC 600 reticle instead of the Nikoplex reticle or maybe even a different magnification. I will hope for the best but I’m not getting my hopes up with their customer service. I took one star off the review for this mistake because customer service is now a part of this review. Will update again.
**UPDATE**
3/26/12 I’m done with Nikon. They sent me shipping labels for 2 lbs. instead of 7 lbs. and I haven’t heard back from them since. After doing a little research on the spotting scope they sent me by mistake, it’s worth way more than this POS rifle scope I bought in the first place. Ebay here I come. Nikon’s mistake turns out to be in my favor after all.

|Scope won’t shoot a tight group …..,
I was looking for a scope for my AR for longer targets. I am currently using a TA01 ACOG – the 4x doesn’t cut it for me at long range and I liked the idea of a BDC reticle for three gun matches.
I also purchased the Nikon -20 MOA mount and intstalled the scope on one of my ARs that consistently shoots 1 MOA or less groups.
At the range, I shot some 25 yard groups at 2x, 4x, and 8x. The groups expanded as I raised the power on the scope. This seems backwards to me.
At 100 yards, the 4x group was reasonable, maybe 2-3 MOA. But the real surprise was the 8x setting – I could only get 7-8 MOA using the 8x magnification. To be sure that there was nothing wrong with the combo rifle / scope, I placed the same scope on another rifle with SUB MOA performance and got the same results. The ammo was handloaded by a perfectionist buddy of mine and I can shoot a 0.5 MOA with the ammo and an ACOG at 100 yards.
Bottom line, shooting this scope beyond 100 yards would not be an option at the 8x setting and you can forget about using the BDC if the 8x cant even group 1-2 MOA at 100 yards.
I called Nikon and was on hold for over an hour. I sent them an email and they agreed to respond in an hour, and they never called back or emailed me. So, IMHO, their support was not good. I also sent them photos of the groups and specific information how my tests were done.
I returned the scope and I am back in the hunt for a 2-8 or 2.5-10 scope.
It’s too bad – the price point is right and the optics were good, but the scope could not shoot a tight group – period. Maybe it is just early production issues, but not getting a call back from them was the final nail.

|Nikon M223 scope,
This scope is clear, bright and sharp. The turrets are easily adjusted and have a positive feel. Eye relief is good. I believe, at this price, you won’t do better.
