Have They Used Their Own Product?,
This scope mount looked good in the package. Upon installation, however, it fell short-very short when I started installation on my Leupold Mark 4 scope:
Firstly, the 30 mm diameter of the saddles is a bit oversize. When I placed a half of the saddle on my 30 mm Leupold tube, it rocked. Sure, when you torque down on the two halves, it will hold the scope, but it will not distribute the pressure equally around the outer diameter of the tube. I didn’t want to risk distorting the Leupold tube, so I addressed the problem by carefully inserting a layer of electrician’s tape in each half of the saddles. Worked quite nicely, but why should I, as a customer, have to correct this problem?
Secondly, when I went to loosen the two hex nuts so I could attach the mount to my rail, I found that the black paint was fouling the threads on the screws. This made the rail attachment screws hard to turn, and worse, when I got the mount on the rail and tightened it, I had no idea whether the tighness was due to the final seating on the rail, or whether I had reached a big glob of paint. It seemed to get tight, but it felt like I was going to strip the threads or snap the screw. Again, crappy quality control…
And lastly, the paint itself. The paint on the hex head bolts easily scratches and chips. Realy crappy, soft paint. Gees, for a buck or two, they could have done a nice black anodization or Parkerizing job on the bolts, and they wouldn’t have the paint in the threads problem, either!
I think Burris should tell those Chinese guys to get their act together. Well, no, I think Burris should get its act together. I rate this product a 3

|Solidly made, but somewhat fussy,
Saw this mounted with a Burris XTR-14 and decided that I had to try one. Currently using it in conjunction with my Bushnell Elite Rainguard Riflescope, although I DO have my eye on a particular Trijicon Accupoint. Nicely finished–hard but still scratches with enough (inadvertent) effort as I rudely discovered–and for the most part well executed in construction, although I’m personally not a fan of the use of Torx screws as fasteners (preferring instead good old fashioned hex heads). While relatively easy to use, I’m also not seeing much advantage of having six holding screws per ring; it just adds a bit more unnecessary complication to the scope setup process that four screws and strategic dabs of Loctite can easily address. Mounts easily and solidly to any flattop black rifle equipped with the appropriate Picatinny/Weaver rail. While I still need to use a separate 1/2″ riser to optimize the assembly for my own eye comfort (YMMV of course), I’ve transferred it back and forth between my AR and M&P 15-22 plinker; certainly makes moving the Bushnell from rifle to rifle a breeze, although I don’t see THAT much of an advantage over properly setup individual rings.
Still, it’s not much more than a pair of individual Burris 30mm rings, and it’s perfect if at some point I get totally stupid and pick up additional sighting gear to mount on top of this setup. For me, it’s money reasonably spent.

|Priced Right…,
Didn’t know what to expect since other brand names retail for around double the price of this mount. When I opened it up I was suprised…the look, solid feel, and finish were better than what I expected. It mounted on my AR easily with out any issues and the finish matches up with my AR perfectly. It also gives the AR a more balanced “Military like” look over traditional rings. One thing is for sure, my other AR is getting one also. Very pleased. Excellent buy….
